With specs that are pretty hot, we are excited to see that Bell has released their first Samsung Android device, the Samsung Galaxy. You'll get a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, and usual slew of connectivity options wrapped up in a rather dated Android 1.5.

Verizon just let BGR know that an OTA update for the HTC DROID Eris is being pushed to handsets at about midnight this evening. The ROM is 1.16.605.1 and the radio version is 2.32.40.11.09 for those inquiring minds. Just as Motorola’s OTA update worked, the DROID Eris will as well — slowly to a small group of people, then expanding over the coming days. Here’s a brief list of some of the fixes and you can always check the documentation on Verizon’s site.

Members of the AllDroid forums have apparently successfully rooted the Motorola DROID.This will provide root level Linux access to the device, giving the user added abilities. I am very eager to see what comes from this, and what all we can do! There is also a manual upgrade to 2.0.1 included with these files.

All haild Android! Google's OS has become a hit as the Motorola DROID was ranked number 1 on the gadget list in Times' "Top Ten of Everything" list for 2009. Coming in at number 2 was Barnes and Nobles "Nook", which is an e-reader that runs the Android OS as well. All in all, a very good year for Google and Android.

The Acer Liquid, which we have discussed several times here, is now available in the UK. Currently selling at Expansys and Clove for £339.99 ($556) and £328.99 ($538).

The Archos 5 internet tablet running the Android OS is now available for the first time with a 8GB SSD for only $250. You can purchase this bad boy from Radio Shack either in store or online, as they are the only retailer as of right now.

Yelp has issued its application to the Android Market. For all the cuisine enthusiasts out there, Yelp is a location-based application that searches local restaurants and provides user reviews and map features. Download Yelp from the Android Market and happy feasting!

Europeon company Good Technology has announced that is has extended its enterprise mobility suite to Android devices and the iPhone as well. Available directly from their site or the marketplace, it allows expanded client options for customers and the ability for IT departments to securely manage the devices. More and more employees are wanting to use their own devices, and this provides a solution.
